Our Story

Alex and Alexis go together almost as easily as their names. They were living in somewhat parallel—born in the same hospital just 8 days apart to grow up in houses separated by only about 3 miles. They attended the same middle and high school, with younger sisters the same age and on the same softball teams-- but it wasn’t until they ended up in homeroom or academic lab together in high school that their paths were pushed to cross. To him, she was a nice but somewhat nerdy girl. To her, he was a shaggy haired boy with a cute smile, but they would come to build a friendship and love that would forever intertwine them. This was helped along by a strategically planned volunteer schedule on Alex’s part, that allowed his volunteer time at the Children’s Hospital to overlap with hers by one hour every Saturday morning. On Pi day, (March 14th), 2011 Alex would finally get the courage to send what would be one of the most defining text messages of his life, -- "will you be my girlfriend?"

The answer was obvious, and has been a resounding YES for the past 10 years. Through college, study abroads, internships, long distance, still more school they have learned together. Through countless trips, tribulations, disappointments and celebrations they have grown together.
